What a receiver!!

I replaced an extremely disappointing and defective Onkyo TX-SR707 receiver with this Pioneer. What a difference! This receiver is easy to set up, has great connectivity and features, and has proven to be extremely robust and reliable. The sound is terrific (I am using a Definitive SSA-50 Soundbar, KEF rear speakers, Polk speakers for high channels and a Martin Logan subwoofer) VSX-32 7.1-Channel 3D Ready Elite A/V Receiver. I simply plugged my Pioneer to my router with an ethernet cable and bam! Internet Radio. This receiver is simply excellent. Everything is well laid out and the menus are easy to follow. I used the Auto MCACC to set up the speakers and it worked like a charm. The picture on my TV is great thanks to the Marvell video scaler. And the THX is worth every penny! I don't have THX certified speakers but its sound reproduction really stands out. I haven't plugged my ipod into it yet, but Pioneer made this extremely easy to do as the capability is already built into the receiver. I can highly recommend this product!

I really researched and struggled over this purchase. I wanted to upgrade my entire home theater but I did not have unlimited money! I started with replacing my old Onkyo receiver. I liked it and thought it had great sound but it was lacking HDMI inputs and outputs. I started looked at Yamaha, Denon, and Maritz. While at one store, the salesman asked if I considered the Pioneer Elite receivers. It was the only one in my price range that was THX certified. After two more weeks of research, I found the model I wanted at the best price on Amazon.com.I hooked this up to my old Bose Acoustimas speakers and immediately noticed the difference! Later when I replaced my speakers with Definitive Technology Pro Cinema 1000 with sub I was blown away. I heard new sounds from old movies and most importantly, I could understand the soft spoken dialogue that is common in action movies. I am over 50 and have constant ringing in my ears, so before, I had to watch movies with the volume control remote in my hand constantly adjusting it up for the dialogue and down for the action. Not now!I hooked it up to my home network, turned it to internet radio and immediately started listing to music. And the made for iPod feature, let me plug my iPhone into the front and start playing music and videos immediately. The auto configuration utility for the speaker setup was amazing. It first told me that one speaker wasn't getting a signal. After rechecking the wires I found on wire had come loose. The next time it told me that two of my speakers were out of phase and I needed to switch the red & black wires. If you want to step up from the "chain store" quality receivers without breaking the bank, this is a great choice.

Thought receivers were supposed to last

I bought a Pioneer VSX-32 on Aug 8 2010. This was not my first Pioneer, My VSX-9500 gave me over 15 years of excellent service. The 32 sounded great and had nice features for about two years. At two years and two months the HDMI circuitry went out, no output video, two months out of warranty. Wrote Pioneer and sorry, it is out of warranty. No problem, not happy but decided to use the optical output from my TV for sound as when it worked, it sounded good. Now 3 months later, there is NO sound output at all. This is a high end Elite receiver and less then two and a half years later, it is useless. If this is the life expectancy of pioneer elite series, I will not be buying another Pioneer. Time to do more research. No it has never been abused, I have Klipsch speakers and other high end components. In both cases, the unit was working fine one day, not working on start up the next.
