There are not many options to choose from, yet I like these best.

This review is review pertains to my 1991 Ford Explorer, 4door, 4WD. 6 weeks ago, 1500 miles later...I replaced the whole exhaust system, and thus I can't comment accurately on the performance and sound quality of the headers alone, but in a few words, I am very pleased.Since I was performing a top end refreshing I installed the headers to the heads before I installed the heads. As a unit, this made tightening of the header bolts VASTLY easier as some bolts on the drivers side are a real pain to get to to torque down on the engine. The headers came will all the bolts needed and they were as good or better than the factory bolts that were rusted and ugly. I really appreciated the 2-piece y-pipe as it made fitment much easier when connecting to the Cat. Not a fan of standard exhaust clamps, but they seem to be of decent quality and haven't loosened since the install. In my research for header options the cheaper alternatives only set back were the flange thickness and this is worth the extra money, in my opinion, for the JBA's. Very stout. The quality of the welds were not top notch, but not bad either...solid and effective, just not too pretty. For the cost of the headers, it would have been nice to have better visual quality here, thus 4 stars.Sound wise, with the caveat mentioned above, I like the sound, Definitely a performance tone, but not so loud or aggressive as to wake the neighbors or johnny law. Only this truck, with this 4.0L engine, headers is not gonna do much for performance that is really noticeable. But it will provide a foundation for mods later. A cat back exhaust does more and for the dollar there is no real reason to spend the money unless your are wanting to get headers. In my case, with free shipping it was almost a wash to go with these compared to Walker comparables.This is a great set up if you need a whole new exhaust as I did. My cat was plugged and rusted thru in several spots, along with the muffler and severely rusted bolts throughout. As a system, combined with Magnaflow direct fit cat and Gibson cat back exhaust, I can give a 5 star for quality, sound and performance. Throaty, not very resonant, nor loud, but a slight snarl when full song past 3 grand and on it. It'll never pass for a v-8, but for the six, it is nice. My wife and boys are much happier now that we can talk when on a cruise and my wife likes the smoothness and quietness of the tone.

Great sound, more power!

Jba did great on these, I bought a pair right after pulling the CAT's off of my explorer. With the CAT's off and no headers it sounded like a bayliner half sunk, now with no CAT's and the headers, it sounds like a throughty Class 7 truck. Could not be happier with the sound. I have also noticed the added power, not alot, but a definite diference. Totally worth the buy and easiest set of headers I have ever installed.

I must say I am definitely pleased with these JBA headers for the ohv 4.0.Great sound,definite power gain,better mileage and Great quality! The price is a bit on the high side, but consider the benefits and its worth every peny.
