Product Description
The Montane Venture is a multi-purpose all conquering jacket which contains high-value fabrics as well as a range of other subtle features which will help you tackle any mission. The eVent Hurricane fabric takes breathability to a new level. It's comprised of a windproof / waterproof membrane which contains eVent's Direct Venting Technology. Perspiration is released through millions of tiny pores within the fabric venting sweat directly to the outside in one easy step, as opposed to the traditional waterproof PU (Polyurethane) layer which can be slow and inefficient when it comes to moisture management. The eVent fabric ensures you stay completely dry and keep comfort to a maximum. Another valuable fabric within the Venture is the FREEFLOW Nailhead reinforced nylon patches. Located on the shoulders and seat, these extremely tough and hard wearing patches give great protection in hard wearing areas. They are abrasion-resistant and help you with your carrying equipment by softening the pressure of heavy belongings. Also featuring wire peaked helmet hood, an internal bonded chest pocket, watertight zips and drop tail rear for extra coverage, the Venture can be used in any environment. eVent Hurricane 3 Layer - Brings a new level to breathability, allowing perspiration to escape whilst still firmly protecting you from the elements. Windproof and Waterproof. FREEFLOW NailHead - Protective reinforcement patches on shoulders and seat, added to help when carrying heavy equipment and is extremely waterproof. DWR Beardguard Chinguard - Designed to protect your jawline from the elements, also water-resistant. Two Zipped Chest Pockets - With water resistant zips for essential carrying and protection. Roll-away Helmet Hood with Wired Peak - Also features an elasticated volume adjuster, to comfortably protect your head. Strong and weather-resistant. Adjustable Draw Cord Hem - For increased comfort and tighter fit. Two way Water-Resistant Zip with Internal Storm F

Very good multipurpose jacket
By Ben
My main outdoor activity is running (50+ miles/wk), but I also a bike, ski, hike, and travel a ton for work. I am hard on stuff. I am 6'0", 185 lbs, with long arms (36") and a narrow torso. I wanted a jacket that worked great, looked good so I could wear it in any situation, and was versatile. It took a long time, but I found it. This jacket. Here's the goods on it:Pros:Waterproof. I've done several 7-12 mile runs in the rain, once in a torrential downpour. I stayed dry and warm. It does wet out when it is raining hard, but it does not soak through.Breathable: this jacket is waterproof, yet still breathes well enough to avoid feeling clammy. I've done many runs on cool windy days where I sweat a bunch and the jacket does not get excessively moist inside.Dries fast: when the exterior wets out, the jacket dries completely overnight, if not sooner. If a small amount of condensation builds up inside (during high output), open the jacket and the breeze quickly dries what little is present.Light: this jacket is very light for a non-minimalist, full featured, multi-season jacket. It rolls up nicely into it's hood, which is great for travelers. I roll mine up and toss it in my shoulder bag along with my fleece, and I'm ready for just about any weather imaginable.Durable: the high wear areas on the shoulders and butt are great. Makes the jacket suitable for backpacking, skiing, climbing, etc. I have not used it for any of these activities to date, but I plan to. It's performance thus far gives me plenty of confidence that it will perform well. The stitching and welding is clean and solid. The zippers, hood pulls, arm closures, and other velcro are of high quality and durable. The hood: it is great. Moves with your head, adjustable enough to wear alone or over a helmet. Has three points of adjustment, which is enough without being too many. This is the best hood I have experienced on any jacket.Pockets: just enough, and not too much. The side pockets are placed perfectly for use with a harness.Style: this jacket fits great and looks great. I've gotten many compliments on how it fits. It is easy to clean (just wash in warm water with mild detergent and hang dry), and it stays clean. It is recommended to wash often.Color: the jacket is RED. Very seriously sincerely red. I love it, but I could see how some could be put off by it.Could be better:Waterproof zippers: somewhat hard to start the main zipper. Could see problems with cold hands. The chin guard is not sufficient and I have found it slightly irritating on long runs.Overall: really solid jacket. If Montane were to change the issue with the main zipper, they would easily have a five star jacket. I got mine for half price from another website, so that makes it even better. The function is fantastic and the form is superb. If you have long arms, and a narrow torso and are looking for a jacket that works very well, you would do well to get this jacket.
