5How much is your brain worth?
By Slow Cheetah
I love to ride motorcycles without a helmet, period; however, whenever on the road, I'm not always in control, the woman driving the mini-van is, you know what I mean? When you visit your local watering hole, then yourlocal bike shop, think about what idea that you initially told to piss off. If I was out west in NM, MT, UT, etc…yea I would not wear a helmet, because generally I'm in control of the situation. While living and driving onthe East Coast Of America, you will have to rethink your strategy. When you put your fat head into this helmetit feels like passing out and ever so gently placing your head on a soft cough. This is a lot of money…. but I canassure you that every penny is well spent. Shoei are great helmets. Bell and the like are all good helmets….Arai outperforms the competition in every way. Simple. Try one on and make the decision for yourself!!I will never as long as I live settle for anything else.. They are that good! Thanks

5Best Helmet Hands Down
By IBM796
This is my second one of these helmets as I damaged my last one in an accident about 2 months ago. Everything took a beating in the accident except my helmet which worked flawlessly. Yes they are costly, but when you need it you can count on the quality.

3It's noisy, but comfotable.
By Aaron
The title of this review is misleading. I'm sorry, what it should say is this: anything over 40 mph is murder on the ears. I've read a lot of other reviews that gave it 4 or 5 stars depite this. The reason for this being, "its safe" or, "it's comfortable". Yeah, well it's also a $500 helmet. If it's this noisy it beter be somthing. Is it comfortable? Yes. If I sit at my desk with it on, it's comfortable but, after 4 cups of coffe when I'm running to the bathroom the wind noise is once again deafining. Is it safe? ALL HELMETS ARE SAFE!!! You don't spend $500 to get a safe helmet. A $120 HJC is safe. I droped 5 bills because I wanted a helmet that was at least as comfortable and quiet as my worn out and stinky 2004 SUOMY Spec 1r Extreme. I got hosed. Big time. Might check out the new shark vision r.By the way. My qualifications:I live in Miami.I don't own a car.I've been a daily rider for 10 years.I've got 40,000 miles on my 2006 gsxr 1000.UPDATE!!!!!I had one of the new Shark vision-r helmets sent from the UK about a month ago. Wow. Now that's a helmet. Quiet and comfortable. It has a quick release chin strap you can undo with one gloved hand! The flip down sunglasses are amazing. The price? $350 when it goes on sale here in a week or so. Stay away from the Arai! It's over priced and antiquated! Is the Arai really a good helmet? Or, after spending $500 do you tell yourself it's a good helmet. One of the commenters made the statement "it's safe". As I said, all helmets are safe if they're legal. What should be setting a $500 helmet apart from a $100 helmet is comfort. Yes, I will admit, the Arai is not only more comfortable than the Shark, it's the most comfortable helmet I've owned. It's just waaaayyyy to noisy. I shouldn't have to put in ear plugs to go to the grocery store.Update again!!!!!!Wow, just had someone comment on my review and it was removed. Too bad. I love a good debate. Arai would do best to see that their "dealers" use some discretion when they're faced with a situation as challenging as commenting on a less than favorable review of a product they "sell", without stooping to name calling. I would like to address something that was said in the comment. The poster maintains that there is not another helmet made that meets the safety standards Arai puts their helmet through...Sweet. I've got the safest, noisiest $500 helmet on my shelf of retired helmets. Awesome.I would like to conceed, though, that the Shark I bought to replace the Arai is wearing on my patience and not nearly as good as the Arai. It's liner is wearing out quicker than any of my helmets and it looks like I will be taking the Arai off my shelf permanently. I just wish the Arai had the flip down sun glasses and anti fog wind screen.I have updated to 3 stars. Deal with it.
