Help with back pain

I had one of the "memory foam" toppers from Walmart before, and it didn't last on my bed too long. I also regularly slept over on my bf's Tempurpedic. Nothing called Memory Foam really beats the real deal, unfortunately. However, this one from Serta is really close! I tossed and turned less at night, and I woke up feeling no back pain as I usually would. (I actually have a very good mattress on top of it because of my back pain.) So, I am impressed!The instructions are very clear. It is important to read it before sleeping on it. For example, the topper has an interesting scent to it. It does fade away as time goes on.I will continue to provide my feedback in a week or so.**UPDATE 10/1/2010I wake up feeling no back pain every day.It's plush, dense and not too soft.Reasonably priced for its quality.I highly recommend it.

I recently got married, and we decided to use my husband's bed because it was bigger. (He had a queen-size, and I had a full-sized) The problem was, he had purchased a slightly lesser quality mattress that was very hard. He thought this would work better for him as he sleeps on his stomach. I sleep on my side/back, and discovered very quickly that the hard mattress was giving me backaches in the morning, as well as extremely stiff, sore joints in my hips. The thought of several years sleeping on this mattress really didn't appeal to me, when the mattress I had previously - which was medium - never gave me aches or pains. I also discovered I was tossing/turning more and waking continuously on my husband's hard mattress. This wasn't going to work!I had the opportunity to receive this Serta 2 1/2" Memory Foam Topper, and I took it. My husband was game to try it and see how it would work. When it arrived, it unrolled and expanded to it's fullness right away - no waiting! Neither of us noticed any odor that was overly obnoxious, so we decided to use it the same night it arrived.The 2 1/2" does add quite a bit of dimension to a mattress, and that is something I personally like. It was like having my old bed back! I just like the way a bed "makes up" when it has that extra height. Bedding just seems to fit/look better. NOTE: fitted sheets will need to have extra deep pockets. Our fitted sheets accomodate up to 18", and we use all of that!Climbing into bed (and that is literally what I had to do, and I LOVED it!), was such a treat! The foam feels so comfy, but it does offer support and "cuddles" the body. There is firmness, but there is "give." A good combination, that just feels so right!But the real test? The sleep! The first night was iffy, I will admit. But I've been sleeping on this for almost a week now, so the jury is in. I'm finding I simply do NOT toss/turn. Whereas before I was constantly tossing and turning and turning and tossing - and waking up each and every time I did so - now, I fall asleep and find I wake up in the same position several hours later! Before, I would wake up to turn over every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. This is simply BLISS!! The only time I wake up now is if hubby moves over or if mather nature calls. I don't move, I don't wake up - I LOVE that! And, because of that, I get far more restful sleep.And what does my husband think? He likes it! He can still sleep on his stomach easily, and he's much more comfortable. Plus, if either of us needs to get up in the middle of the night, the way the foam doesn't shift weight, we don't disturb each other. This is great, because he goes to sleep much earlier than I do, and he gets up much earlier than I.The only thing I can think of that is a negative is that the foam does shift slightly. But this is easily remedied when we take the sheets off to be laundered.I love, love, LOVE this!! I feel as if I have my old, higher quality mattress back! And I can finally sleep much better! I love this mattress topper. It is a lot thicker and more comfortable than I expected it to be. It comes rolled up and vacuum packed, so the box size is deceptive. As soon as you start to cut the bag off of it, the foam starts to expand, and it would have been pretty comical to anyone watching as I was soon engulfed by a big foam mattress! Memory foam feels weird. It seems a little sticky, but it's really not, it's just not a texture that I've felt before. You might think 2.5 inches isn't very thick, but it actually is! It is nice and thick and plush.I layed the foam topper down on my mattress. Then I got out the topper cover, which is REALLY nice and soft and very well made. It has big elastic pocket corners so it actually fit over my existing mattress AND box springs to ensure a snug fit. Seriously, this cover is nice. I was impressed.So then came the big test. I made my bed and then sat down on it. I sunk in a bit, but it felt cushy and nice. Then I laid down... and ohhh even nicer. The topper molds to your body and creates a really nice feeling. It was SO comfortable. I slept for 8 hours straight and woke up feeling nice and refreshed. Yay! I love this topper and I wish I would have gotten it a lot sooner.
