I got the small bed in gray. I measured it- from end to end, it is 20" but the part indicated for sleeping is only 11". The size is just fine for my puppy, but I have a small yorkie. The color is more gray, than the periwinkle color in the picture, but it is by no means a true gray. I do love the color, it work perfect with the color scheme of the room the bed is in. It is a more elegant and modern looking bed than many of the others out there. The foam is fairly thick but not dense at all, so it is easily compressed when pressure is applied, not a concern for my 2 lb puppy, but I can't imagine a heavier dog feeling any sort of support or cushion once the foam is compressed under its weight. Also, the top portion of the foam is like the inside of an egg crate and my puppy didn't like the completely irregular surface (but an easily solved problem- I laid a fleece blanky over it). The bed is amazing for my small dog, but I wanted to give you all an honest representation of the product.

By Christine M Smith
I chose this bed because the manufacturer described it as "luxury from top to bottom". I have a Whippet, a medium size 24 lb. dog, so the medium size bed, at 30 inches, should be ample. I don't know what kind of measuring instrument they used, but you can't make this bed stretch to 30" x 25" if two people squash it down and pull on it in all directions. My dog can't even curl up in it unless part of her body is on the floor. She is asleep on it now, because it's the only bed in the room, but her head is lying on the hardwood floor. It's disappointing because I ordered this in advance of her being released from the hospital so she would have a comfortable place to recuperate. Not only is the bed small, the cushion isn't thick enough to keep her body from sinking to the floor. This 'medium' size bed is made for a small, and lightweight, dog.

This is a great dog bed. I bought both the 30 inch Medium and 50 inch Xtra Large. The medium is perfect size for my 22 lb cocker spaniel with enough extra room for her to bring in a stuffed animal or two. Some may think it is large for a dog this size (I saw other reviews with roughly similar size dogs and the reviewers thought it too big) - I think it boils down to your own expectation and desire for room to accomodate stretching and toys). Keep in mind the 30" measurement is from one edge to the other. But because of the bolster sides, the usable mattress area is less. Nevertheless I was lucky and it is a truly perfect fit for my dog -- that by some standards is called a medium sized dog (in comparison to a chihuahua for example). I should also note that my large 85 lb. dog who is over 4ft from head to tail Basset mixed with something very large) has successfully squeezed himself into this bed when the little one takes over his large bed. Although the results are pretty funny -- he is bursting out over the sides. BUT -- even after a few hours of rest squeezed in and distorting the shape -- it has bounced right back so that is also impressive.I have had it for about 3 weeks already -- about the time many other beds have shown wear or tear (literally). My cocker is one who will "dig" on the bed to get everything right for her so that is fairly abusive.I also purchased the XLarge size which is 50". Again absolutely perfect for the big dog in the house - he fits perfectly on it and avails himself of the side support and can stretch comfortable. But keep in mind this is a VERY LARGE bed. It is actually a bit awkward in my place because there is no perfect spot to accommodate it. But again - it is perfect for the dog and I make it work.I was HIGHLY impressed with the ability to take off the covers, wash them the bolster is covered separately from the main mattress) and EASILY get them back on! So many beds are torture to get back together after a wash. And it held up well using warm water and gentle dry (dries quickly) - still looks great. Even the XL was a breeze and easily handled by me without another set of hands or tugging. So at last I have found what appears to be a superb, well made and seemingly comfortable bed for the dogs at a very reasonable price (given how relatively expensive these things are).
