Donegal was originally a thick and warm homespun or tweed woven by Irish peasants in Donegal, Ireland. Donegal now describes wool tweed that has colorful irregularities knit into the fabric. Love this sweater

I bought this last year for my husband for Christmas. It is amazingly soft, even a year later. The leather accents really make this sweater. I loved it so much, I got him another Orvis sweater this year.

Nice but not "amazingly soft" - only semi so

It is a nice warm sweater, but not particularly soft. It does not have the full itchiness of wool, but also is not soft like cashmere. I'd say it has a very slight itch factor, but just barely so and I am quite sensitive to the itch. Even being an itch sensitive soul I would still recommend the sweater as it is warm and has a nice throw-back look to it.

Very nice sweater. The color is not excacly what I thought it would be. However, its still a very nice sweater that seems well made. It's just a shame that these sweaters cost so much.
