Great scale for a larger bird

I purchased this scale to weigh my Moluccan Cockatoo, who was too big to weigh on my smaller scale I use for my Umbrella Cockatoo. The scale works great, but the perch is a little higher than necessary for the Moluccan, and just a little wobbly, but she is getting used to it.A word of caution, the bird rescue I got her from has the exact same scale, and it's unusable, because the plastic extensions used to hold the scale plate to the scale broke off. So I recommend when you have to move the scale to pick the scale up by the scale body, not the perch, and you should have no problems.For a larger bird such as the pictured Macaw, the perch height would help, but my guess is you would still have to have it on the edge of the table for the tail to clear and get a good weight.Other than being careful not to damage the mounting plate, I think this is a great bird scale for the price.

High Quality Bird Scale

I purchased this scale as a gift for a friend who breeds birds and also helps people care for birds with special needs. She is delighted with this scale. She was told by an avian veterinarian that this was an excellent scale. Large birds can be weighed while sitting on the perch and small birds can be weighed directly on the scale or in a small container on the scale. This lady has been using the scale to measure the progress of her birds with good success. She particularly likes the tare feature and accuracy of the scale. The 10 year warranty on this product is also a plus.

I bought this scale to to replace two aging (and battery-eating) scales: one higher capacity scale for weighing my birds and the second, more accurate scale for weighing out food.This scale does the job: it is accurate to the nearest gram (checked against a calibrated scale) and can handle weighing my Medium Sulfur-crested Cockatoo without shutting off while I wait for her to settle on the platform. The tare feature is also very handy. I'm pleased with the purchase.
