Trango Beta cheater stick

Many first bolts are uncomfortably high up -- as if even 5.7 routes were set by 5.11 climbers .... So a cheater stick to clip the first bolt is a terrific thing to have. I made one out of aluminum tent poles, but it bent over with the weight of the rope, and anyway, was not very long. The Trango Beta Technical Stick is pricey (I got mine as a Christmas present) but it is perfect for length and does not bend. A good feature is that when you have it unfolded you can lock it at the bottom, so it does not start unfolding during use :-)
