The best single or double stroller!

Several years ago I saw a woman jogging with a Phil&Teds Sport stroller with doubles kit. Never having seen anything like it, I knew I wanted that stroller when I started my family. So while pregnant with my 1st child, I ordered the Phil&Teds Sport. I loved it mostly, but had a few complaints. Several months ago I realized that Phil&Teds had just come out with a new stroller that fixed all the complaints I had with the Sport. I promptly sold my Sport and purchased the Explorer and have been thrilled with my stroller ever since. Here are the things I love about the stroller:- it's a jogger stroller just in case you might ever want to run with it (front wheel can swivel or lock)- it has substantial wheels that will easily roll over any terrain (and glides like air on smooth surfaces)- it has a second seat that can be added when you have a second kid******* (prob the best feature!!!!- you won't have to buy a new stroller when you have your 2nd kid!!)- even with the second seat on, the stroller is only the size of a single stroller, so you're not this massive moving thing trying to get through a store or park.- it folds (easily!) almost flat & locks (some don't lock, so they're floppy, making it hard to get in and out of a car)- the handle moves so that whoever is pushing can put the handle where it is most comfortable for them (this is especially good for tall people)- the seat is padded, removable, and washable- you can buy an adaptor that allows you to put a car seat on the stroller. The doubles kit can be used at the same time.- it has an awesome sun shade that "follows" the sun so you move the shade wherever you need it to block the sun. The 2nd seat also has its own sunshade.- it has a great basket underneath. This basket is where the 2nd kid's feet go though, so once you're using the stroller for two kids, you lose a lot of the basket storage, but to me its totally worth it to have a stroller that holds 2 kids but isn't massive. I solved that issue (lack of storage when used with 2 kids) by getting a diaper bag back pack.- the brake is very very easy to use (a huge improvement over the Sport)I honestly don't have a single complaint about the stroller. The only negative thing to be aware of is the lack of storage when used with two kids. But like I mentioned, this con is really just a trade off for having two kids fit in the space of a single stroller. It's just something to be prepared for.Finally- Phil&Teds customer service is fabulous! When I first received my new stroller, it came with a deformed wheel. I immediately called Phil&Teds about it. Since the stroller was still so new, they didn't have replacement parts yet, so they took a wheel off their demo stroller at their office and sent that straight to me. I was incredibly impressed.Every time I use my stroller, I think about how wonderful it is. Every time I see a mom struggling to push her massive double stroller through a store, I think about how awesome my stroller is. I can't tell you enough how wonderful it is. And how unique it is. It's worth every bit of its price tag!

Big purchase, lots to consider :)

The biggest problem when looking for a stroller to purchase for my growing family was location. In Iowa, I had minimal access to high end stroller retailers, leaving me to spend hours reading reviews online hoping to find the perfect fit for our family. I chose the explorer for my now 4 year old and 7 week old, and we've been using it 5 months.As a single stroller, the explorer is awesome. Though folding it takes some practice, it really isn't a big deal. The explorer and accessories fit easily in my volvo wagon. Once unfolded the smooth ride, comfy seat for the kiddo, and adjustable height handle bar make it perfect. But the whole reason why you choose the explorer is for the optional double seat. Since our baby's arrival 7 weeks ago, I have tried the possible configurations and found advantages to all. I have the car seat adaptor, which is helpful on a hot day (so the car seat doesn't heat up while inside the mall, ect) or for quick errands. It accommodates my graco perfectly. But I have most enjoyed using the carry cot with the second seat on top. My four year old has a normal stroller ride, just up a bit higher, and my newborn can really stretch out. At the pool, I loved being able to give my newborn some tummy time in the carry cot while my big guy swam. The carry cot gives the stroller a pram feel, and has worked great for running into pick up my oldest from preschool. I also like how the stroller can fold with the upper seat attached. For me, the carry cot and car seat adaptor have been great purchases.I also bought the sleeping bag, which I look forward to using as the weather changes. The hang bag is ok but can't be used with my guy on the back. The mini diddie has proved worthless thus far because I can't figure out how it attaches to the seat. Many other reviews discuss the lack of cup holders, but that hasn't been a huge deal for me. A water bottle can be tossed in the basket or in the hang bag just fine.Regarding the storage basket, that is another advantage to the carry cot/ second seat above configuration. The basket is still available for small items. The space is lost entirely with the child on the back configuration.In conclusion, I have found this stroller to work well for my family. The second seat options, available accessories, adjustble handle bar, and perfectly smooth ride make me a very satisfied costomer. I hope this review helps someone like me- who lives in an area where seeing the stroller in person may not be an option. My cousin has children who are 22 months apart, and when my little guy was born 22 months after my daughter, I knew I needed to invest in a double stroller! This has been a life saver!! I tried taking them both out once before I purchased this with my son in a baby bjorn carrier and my daughter in the stroller. It was not fun! This stroller is so versatile and easy to use! Totally worth the money! I wish I purchased this when my daughter was born and then spent the money on the doubles kit when my son arrived, but you live and learn! I LOVE my phil and ted's explorer stroller!!
