Great starter kit for new photographers

I picked up this kit and ran with it as my first foray into serious camera hardware. I've owned point-and-shoots and digital camera-equipped smartphones up until now--but it was easy to get the basics of this equipment in my brain. As a non-professional, that's all I'll say about the camera itself and its kit lenses. They work great, look great, and were very affordable.The accessories the kit comes with are priceless. Two solid UV filters for both kit lenses--always a plus. Plenty of cleaning supplies to get you up and running--and the air nozzle is a plus, most definitely. I love the USB flash adapter it comes with, although the caps for it can come loose and be lost--so be aware of that.It comes with a 16GB flash card. I know that flash memory is dirt cheap now, anyways, but that just adds to the deal. It's a reputable brand (SanDisk) with a high capacity. Can't go wrong. The little pocket that comes with the flash card is gimmicky--but perhaps not if you have multiple cards. I don't see myself realistically using all of those 16GB of storage in one outing--but you never know. Can't hurt to have.The case is solid. It has two adjustable panels that are affixed with velcro for moving around--but it is definitely designed with this specific kit in mind. Enough space for the body, two lenses, and some basic accessories you may need on the move. If you want to expand your collection of lenses, you may have to eventually buy a new case that can hold it (depending on the form factor of the lens).Here is my one major gripe. The camera strap that comes with the kit (not the carrying case strap--the actual camera strap) is godawful. It has fallen off and resulted in a drop at least once every time i use it. It is not a sudden failure, though. If you keep an eye on it, you can see the straps slowly loosen. If you can stay on top of it--good on you--but I have seen the strap fail multiple times and I only preserved the camera through my apparently cat-like reflexes. Amazing how fast you react with a several-hundred dollar piece of equipment is on the line!It's a great buy for a new photographer--just be wary of the included camera strap! Everything else is great and it's a good deal!

Nikon Camera

I bought this camera, after much research, to supplant my Nikon adn Cannon film gear. The camera was delivered earlier then expected and in excellent shape. The Camera itself has exceeded my expectations, even on the "automatic settings(sport, low light, portrait etc.) Since the first pictures I took were of my newborn grandchild I was particularly happy with the silent mode which prevented my waking him. Nikon has many classes to improve your technique and, by extension your pictures that i am going to take. this is a definite reccommendation to anyone, beginner or advanced who is looking for an additional or replacement camera.

The camera while not as light as others has a solid feel. It's ability to take pictures in low light is excellent. The controls are well thought out and I am looking forward to using the camera. The only negative, after using point and shoot cameras is the necessity for switching lens when zooming.
