5great value and a good look
By Vad Allen
I bought it because I wanted a swiss-made but did not want to pay a lot. The Maverick seemed to be a good choice because I didnot care about a chronometer and to me it only made sense to pay for the quartz less than $500. For more it would not be a good deal because a decent automatics start at $700 (my next). I like most about it two things:- It's a man's watch: you really feel a solid craftsmanship putting it on and off;- Everybody comments on it positively when they see it for the 1st time (it also has something to do with the fact that it looks very similar to the Tag Heuer for $1,500 and even slightly to the Rolex Submariner for $5,000).A couple of things any buyer should consider:1) It is REALLY heavy, so be prepared. It's massive too, so it looks better on a thicker wrist.2) The photos are misleading: big digits are reflective and change color all the time (even to the plain black!), so every time one has to adjust it a little to the light source. I did not like it first, but now I appreciate that you can see the time well in ANY light. And it's cool that in twilight the white military numbers appropriately are more legible than the big single digits (it is SWISS ARMY, remember?).

5Great Buy!
By W. Shipman
This is a solid watch. I wear it every day now and I have plenty to choose from. It can easily compete with the high end brands. The only thing I could find wrong is that the second hand does not perfectly line up with the markers. This happens with a lot of quartz watches though. I bought a Wenger GST with the same problem. I also have one Citizen that does it.Bottom line is that it is a great watch for the money. I bought it at a brick and mortar store and payed full price for it and I am still happy. That should tell you something.

4Something to believe in
By C. J. Hinsch
I have had this watch now for four months. It has taken all sorts of daily abuse in stride and usually stays on my wrist 24 hours a day. The stainless steel case is solid and of beautiful brushed finish with polished accents. I expect it to age gracefully. The sapphire crystal is still without scratches and should stay that way for a long time. When worn it gains 3 or 4 seconds a month, 11 when left in the drawer. The bracelet is solid stainless steel too, without sharp edges to dig into your wrist. The design of the clasp avoids accidental opening. The Arabic numerals are raised and polished to a mirror finish, contributing to the excellent legibility. I like and use the rotatable bezel; for my uses it is often more practical than chronograph hands. There is nothing I really dislike but I would prefer a less cluttered dial without the inner set of numerals from 14 to 22. The date is too small to be read at a glance and I would prefer the austere look of just 3 hands. But these little idiosyncrasies will not reduce my pleasure of wearing this fine timepiece.Jan Hinsch
