This thing is much, much better than the drugs they gave me after my ACL replacement surgery. I rented it, and it makes me sad to have to give it back. I recommend this to anyone that has to ice their knees on a regular basis.

I recently had knee replacement surgery, and received this as part of my after surgery therapy. I cannot express how much this has helped in my recovery. easy to set up, and provides the right amount of cold relief. One tip: if you have tupperware around the house, fill them with water and freeze. the cold rush works longer with large chucks of ice, as opposed to crushed ice. I'm glad i get to keep it. with my wife running 5K's and mud runs, it's going to be invaluable. I plan on buying all the pad accessories for it. Great product!

I recently tore my ACL (October 26 2012) playing ultimate frisbee, and was looking for a good method of icing since I needed knee and shoulder surgery (shoulder being a previous injury). After doing some research, I started to really like the concept of one of these "cold therapy" systems.The reason I chose this kit was because of the pads for the shoulder and the knee since that is what I needed. When I ordered on November 7th, two of the three things I ordered (the knee and the kit) were on back order. I emailed one of their representatives on November 8th saying I was having surgery the next day (November 9th) and she said she would see what she could do. On that Saturday, November 10th, I received a box containing all three of the items!! Their customer service was outstanding, and went above and beyond my expectations.I was issued a different cold therapy system temporarily for the first few days after by my doctor, the gameready ice system which retails for ~$2300. That one is awesome. Since I had both, I compared Ossur's kit to it, and I was very happy with the results. The gameready system offers programmable sessions and has a pressure setting (very helpful), but when it comes to icing, they are not that much different. The cooler keeps the ice cold for a day easy, and it is very easy to strap the knee/shoulder pad on. The one big drawback between the two is the knee pad from the Ossur machine does not go all the way around your knee, which is really helpful. If you are looking for a machine that is within a reasonable budget and also keeps you cold for a long time, I highly recommend this!
