FHI Heat EPS 2100 Hairdryer

I absolutely love this product. I had one before, but unfortunately I dropped it and broke it beyond repair. This hairdryer dries quickly and actually makes your hair shine. Used with the FHI Runway flat iron, my hair is always shiny, and I'm well over 40!

Only lasted 4 months!

I did love this dryer, but I have only had it for 4 months and the other night I went to dry my hair and it started smoking and smelled like the wires were burning. I had to shut it off before it caught fire. I am hoping for that amount of money that I will be able to get a refund or a new dryer that will hopefully last longer than 4 months! I'm still waiting to hear back from Hair Products which is the company that it actually came from.

Takes a little getting used to

Following first use I was inclined to return this. It is quite heavy, and it only has high and low speed settings. As with other high wattage dryers that have only high and low speed settings, the high is too high and the low is too low to be useful. It really needs an in-between speed. The other thing that really bugged me is the cold shot. All other blow dryers I have used have a cold shot that you hold down and release when you are done. This one is a toggle button. Push it once and it is cold, push again and it is hot. There is no indication of whether it is on hot or cold. You have to recognize the motor sound or apply it to your skin for a few seconds to know what mode it's in. I wish there was a light or a switch so that you knew what mode it was in. However, after using this for a couple months, I am liking it more.Among the things I really like are that it seems to be really well built, heavy duty cord, nice switches which don't accidentally turn off when you touch them, it has a strong motor, gets really hot, and it really dries fast. Faster than any other blow dryer I have tried and I have tried other high end ceramic dryers. The high speed takes some getting used to for styling, but once you have it, it is really quick. Also, probably the most amazing feature is this rubber bumper on the side so when you lay down the blow dryer, it is cushoned and it doesn't blow itself away. What a great feature! All blow dryers should have this!! Also, a very easy to change filter, just twist and it falls open. No popping it off. Although I would say that it was difficult to figure out what to do here and I tried popping it off and almost broke it before I figured it out.Although I like it and am keeping it, I am giving this a 3 because of the usability things I mentioned above. Also there is no cable management and the cable is pretty long - I had expected a velcro strap at least. Another ceramic blow dryer (Bespoke T3) product I used left my hair softer and shinier. This one dries quicker, and seems much better built, but I don't see the effect of the ionic and tourmaline as much as with the other product. So this is a definite trade off. But the Bespoke model consistently broke down after a year and I am hopeful this one will last.
