Go light - without giving up performance. Mel Pardue changed up one of his classic designs by shedding a few tenths of an ounce and adding the AXIS mechanism. The result is a new body style and a lightweight, go anywhere utility folder. Modified spear-point blade with ambidextrous dual thumb-stud opener, features Grivory handle scales with 420J stainless steel liners and a reversible steel carry-clip. BK1 coating provides excellent corrosion protection, which exceeds the ASTM-117 spec for saltwater while possessing higher scratch resistance.

However, its blade is thin (that's were much weight savings come from along with no full size liners). That means I would avoid breeching a door with it, or attacking a wild pig, or even prying open stubborn boxes. But if a sleek cutting tool is needed, this machine is a joy to use.With a flick of the wrist along with a back-pull on the axis mechanism, the blade snaps out with switchblade speed. Reverse the process and the blade flicks most of the way back catching on the axis mechanism, then sliding home as the axis is released. I put together a short video showing the axis-assist in action including filming at 240 frames per second (slow motion).The symmetry of the blade has caused me to try and cut with the non-sharpened side, but oddly, the dramatic thinness of the blade combined with the upper tip tapering has actually led to some successes. It's that thin.The deep carry clip works great, but I think it could be even more streamlined if a couple Benchmade engineers discussed it over a cup of coffee.Overall, this knife is not for everyone, but if you wander the halls of big business or academia daily and need a blade to carry that serves the need for the duality of personality of black tie and black Ops (which means You if you've read this far), then this knife is the ticket.However, if you want a fighting weapon or a chunk of black steel to cut yourself out of a burning Huey, then keep looking. Oh, and expect to carry more than 2 ounces of knife as well.

This isnt a Heavy duty knife that can take a beating. Although its not cheap or flimsy i know it wasnt made for that purpose. Its very thin and has a really smooth blade shape and over all feel. Its very balanced and is my favorite edc. theres not much grip on it and if i ever had to stab anything with it in self defense i honestly feel like my hand could slip forward towards the blade. I didnt buy it for a self defense knife i bought it purely because i loved the blade shape and its so thin you dont know its in your pocket.Summary: Lightweight, Sharp , thin. Worth the money in my opinion. Benchmade quality.

This is one of the top 3 knives in my ED rotation. I like this one for when I'm wearing slacks instead of jeans due to the very light weight and slim profile. Not a heavy use knife but it is typical Benchmade quality. If you're looking for something that is very thin and light I don't know that you could do better than this.
