By L. Allen
Overall sound on these JbL 180's is good. It appears that the design of the cabinet, with a separate enclosure for the mid-range speaker, is flawed. Once I hooked these up I heard an odd vibration sound. Thought at first it was something vibrating on the stand next to the speakers, but tracked it down to the speaker itself. I believe the mid-range enclosure inside the cabinet has some vibration when certain sounds are produced. The other speaker wasn't as bad, but when a deep bass note is hit there was a rattle, again, coming from the area where the mid-range enclosure is located in the cabinet. Had to send these back and feel that the design of an enclosure within the cabinet may be problematic and don't wish to try another pair.

I am very pleased with these speakers I have a 7:1 system and these blended beautifully with my existing jbl's and Bose speakers. I am happy with them they blow me away every time I hear them I have an onkyo receiver running them.

I do not understand some negative reviews here. I was using harmon-kardon HT-18 speakers with a subwoofer, they were really great, but one sub-woofer could not fill the room. Increasing the sub-woofer volume of HT-18 made it boomy. I was thinking of adding another sub-woofer, but wanted to try a floor standing speakers before adding another sub-woofer. I tried floorstanding speakers from Sony and Energy, both were good but I could not get the sharpness(highs) I had in HT-18. Tried this one and what a difference!, it sounded awesome. I connect these speakers with bi-amp to make sure it gets enough power.I have a sub-woofer, but most of the time it is powered off!. I just increase bass level in my receiver and these speakers handle it very nice, sound is very filling and natural. I use these for movies and sterio music, I am 100% happy.
