Works as designed

I live in the country with a long 400' driveway and I purchased this product for a cheap driveway alert solution.I followed the instructions then mounted the device near the end of the driveway on a wood post next to my stone columns.The device is working so far as promised. I even have the receiver in my Kitchen which is to the rear of the house.I'll come back later to see how the long term functionality is.I'd recommend this product. You just have to keep in mind that the quality is cheap but so is the price.

The product works exactly as promised. 700 feet from the house, receiver in Kitchen. The kitchen is at the back of the house, but because of the angle, it is line of sight. The alarm is loud enough to be heard throughout the house. I have ordered the relay so a buzzer can be added to the back patio.Safety Technology International STI-30104 Lamp ControllerAs for the comments regarding the poor instructions???? There is ONE button on this unit. Hold the button down, plug it in, trip the unit by moving the sensor, push the button again. Done! The sensor does not have to be in it's final position to do this. Set-up the unit, then take it down the drive and mount it.Yes it is plastic, however that does not necessarily translate to cheap. You are paying for the development and technology, which seem to work perfect.We live in the country, long lonely drive. The product gives us a heads up on any visitors.Very pleased.Edit: January, 2013It's winter in Michigan. The unit fails from time to time now. I'm thinking is a power problem with cold batteries and cloudy days. A sunny and warmer day, maybe 30 degrees or so, and it's fine. I added a second sensor about 250 feet from the receiver and this one works every time. I'd remove a star, but solar power in Michigan is really asking a lot.Interesting note, the second transmitter was a easy to set up as the first. It also produces a different series of tones, so you know which set it off.

Good sensor

I have been looking for a driveway sensor for a while. I have a rather long and not a flat driveway (0.5 miles). I read all of the reviews for both the nonmagnet and magnet ones. I have a lot of animals on my property and have no way getting power out there. I also needed a far reaching one.This one was the most easiest and really functional option i could buy. The instructions for this product are not the greatest by any means. It took me a little while to set it up but once i got it set up boom it is working. I have the receiver in my kitchen and the sensor about 700 feet (still testing to see how far it will go)from there. Works as advertised. As far a false positives occurring, which i was worried about, has only happened a cpl times and it took me a little while to figure it out. A large crow was setting it off........The bird would land on it and try and "peck" at it which causes the magnet to move which inturn set it off. This is a good item and what i was looking for. I have had it for a cpl months now and so far so good. I would recommend it for some one who has a long driveway and no way of getting power out there.
